In support to the development of the Web platform of the EUFO project (“EU Observatory on Deforestation, forest Degradation, and associated Drivers”) in the JRC, the European Union Joint Research Centre located in Ispra, Varese, Italy, a new open position as external consultant is available. The candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the research group providing expertise in the following fields:
- Technical knowledge in designing and maintaining databases in PostgreSQL,
- Technical knowledge and experience web and scripting in Python, in web-based standards and technologies (React, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, JSON), as well as in web services (REST) and OGC Geographical Web Services (WMS, WFS, WPS);
- Skills in geographical data modelling, management and analysis (vector and raster, formats like ESRI shp, GeoTiff, PNG, NetCDF, HDF, Erdas Imagine)
- Knowledge of GIS software and tools (e.g. ESRI ArcMap, QuantumGIS, GRASS GIS);
- Experience in Developing and managing webGIS with, e.g., MapServer, Geoserver, Leaflet, Mapbox, GeoExt;
