Job description

For the JRC, the European Union Joint Research Centre in Ispra, a new open position as data scientist is available in the Disaster Risk Management Unit. The candidate will be focusing on the following tasks:

  • Support the processing and development of spatial data chains for an IT operational environment;
  • Developing tools to read these data (in their various formats), detect errors and organize them in a consistent data set;
  • Contribute to further development and processing of remote sensing data;
  • Conduct data mining exercises;
  • Provision of input and contributions to the preparation of JRC technical reports and publications of the
    Team

The following knowledge and skills are required:

  • Good experience in spatial data infrastructures;
  • Working experience of Python and its data analysis libraries;
  • Good experience in remote sensing data and software.

Highly motivated, experience and ability in working in an international/multicultural environment, and the ability to participate in multi-lingual meetings.
